Morocco Itineraries from Marrakech: 3, 5, 7 and 10 Days

Most visitors to Marrakech wonder the same thing: how many days, and what to do on each one? Here are four plans that mix the city with the desert, the mountains and the coast, without moving hotels.

Three days: the essentials

  1. Day 1: the medina with a guide. Take the city tour or the history tour, then finish the evening on Jemaa el Fna.
  2. Day 2: a landscape day. Choose the Ourika Valley for an easy mountain day, or the Atlas 4x4 for a quieter one.
  3. Day 3: the gardens in the morning, a hammam in the early afternoon and the Agafay dinner at sunset.

Five days: add the desert and the coast

  1. Day 1: history tour and a walk in the souks.
  2. Day 2: Jardin Majorelle and Le Jardin Secret in the morning, then a hammam.
  3. Day 3: Essaouira, the Atlantic port, for a day of sea air.
  4. Day 4: a quad or buggy ride in the Agafay at 9:00, then a free afternoon by the pool or in a cafe.
  5. Day 5: sunrise balloon, or the Atlas 4x4 if you prefer a quieter last day.

Seven days: the balanced week

A week gives room for three day trips and still leaves time to rest. We wrote a full guide for it, with the order of the days, the best times and what to book first.

Ten days: Marrakech and beyond

With ten days you can base yourself in Marrakech for a week and still extend your trip elsewhere in Morocco. Our ten day guide explains how to divide your time between Marrakech, the mountains, the coast and the next stop on your route, and what to book before you leave home.

Most of our tours are single days that start and end in Marrakech, and we also run 3, 4 and 5 day Sahara tours. For other days away from Marrakech, the guide gives general advice.

How to choose your days

  • Alternate active days and slow days. A 12 hour road trip is best followed by a hammam.
  • Book the balloon and the desert dinner first, because they depend on season and weather.
  • Put the longest day trips, Ouzoud and the Kasbah road, in the middle of your stay, not on your arrival or departure day.
  • Leave one flexible morning in case a flight is moved or the weather changes.

If you would like us to plan your days, send the trip plan form on the homepage with your dates and interests, and we reply by email with a day by day plan and the exact pickup times.

Frequently asked questions

How many days should I spend in Marrakech?

Three days for the highlights, five for a comfortable trip with a desert or coast day, and seven for a relaxed visit with several day trips.

Can I do the desert and the mountains in one trip?

Yes. They are separate day trips from Marrakech. Plan them on different days and alternate with slower ones.

Do you run multi day tours?

Yes. We run 3, 4 and 5 day Sahara tours from Marrakech, and many more single day tours. We can also help you build the rest of your trip around them.

When should I book?

Book the balloon and the desert dinner as early as you can. The others can usually be booked a few days ahead, but spring and autumn fill up.

Can you plan the itinerary for me?

Yes. Send us your dates and interests with the trip plan form, and we reply by email with a plan.
